About Nausea

Nausea is the uneasy sensation of discomfort in the upper stomach, typically preceding vomiting, but not necessarily so. Nausea can be short-lived and severe or prolonged and mild. A nausea attack is also referred to as a qualm. Nausea is in fact not an illness in itself, but rather a symptom of an underlying medical condition. The cause of nausea could be related to the stomach but in many cases it is not. Physical factors or psychological ones may cause nausea making a diagnosis of the condition difficult.

A chronic neurological disorder leading to severe headaches, nausea, visual disorders and affecting your motor senses is called a migraine. Typically migraine headaches affect one part of the head and are characterized by intermittent, pulsating sensations of pain that can last between a few hours to four days. The blood vessels in the brain dilate during a migraine and press against the nerve endings that coil around the arteries. Jaundice treatment

Jaundice is a symptom that can develop as part of various diseases. It refers to the yellowish discoloration of the skin and whites of the eyes. This happens when levels of the chemical bilirubin increase in the bloodstream. Mild elevation in bilirubin levels causes the skin to become yellow. When bilirubin levels are very high, the skin takes on a brown or yellow hue. Jaundice can be categorized into three main types, hepatocellular, hemolytic and obstructive jaundice. Hepatocellular jaundice occurs when injury or disease affects the liver. Hemolytic jaundice develops when the breakdown of red blood cells takes place at an accelerated pace. Obstructive jaundice is the result of a blockage in the tubes that transport bile between the liver, gallbladder and small intestines. Such an obstruction does not allow the bilirubin to leave the liver and this leads to jaundice.
